UNDERGRADUATE
As of September 2002, Dimitris Charitos is a faculty member of the Department of Communication and Media Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is a member of the Sector of Culture, Environment, Communication Applications and Technology, and affiliated with the New Technologies Laboratory in Communication, Education and the Mass Media. He directs the Spatial Media Research.

From 2007 till 2015 he taught the module titled “Music and New Media” for the MA titled "Musical Culture and Communication" with Assoc. Prof. A Georgaki, run jointly by the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies and the Faculty of Music Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In the context of this MA he has successfully supervised more than 8 dissertations.
From 2005 till 2008, he has participated in teaching the course New Technologies in the Museum” with Assis. Prof. Maria Roussou, in the MA of Museum Studies offered by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in the context of which he has supervised 3 dissertations.

He has acted as a member of the advisory committee of the successfully completed PhDs of M. Saridaki (own department - 2016), I. Spanou (Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña, 2014) and K. Koski (University of Lapland – 2007)
He has participated as a member of the evaluation committee of several successfully completed PhDs (A. Theodoropoulos, V. Kasapakis, I. Pentazou, A. Malakasioti, N. Sintoris, O. Venetsanou, D. Dertili, I. Mavromati, S. Yannoudes, E. Ekmekdzian, V. Koutsiouris, A. Koulouris) awarded in other Greek Universities. In the context of this MA he has successfully supervised more than 15 dissertations.
Educational activities in other departments / institutions
He has been involved in coordination (2004-2008) and teaching (2004-2008 and 2013-today) of the 1styear module titled Art and Communication in Graphic Arts, which is part of the MA titled “Graphic Arts and Multimedia”, in the Hellenic Open University.
1999 - 2004, Department of Informatics, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens: collaboration in teaching the subject of virtual reality in the context of a module titled Hypermedia technologies in the postgraduate course of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has also co-supervised a series of postgraduate dissertations on the subject of virtual reality.
1999 – 2002, Department of Architecture, National Technical University of Athens: teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in the following subjects: design of spatial representations by making use of new media, virtual environments, architectural visualisation and animation, video montage, 3D modelling. He has also co-supervised a series of undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations on computer aided architectural design, visual communication, video, psychology of perception, virtual reality, hybrid environments.
1994 - 1997, Department of Architecture and Building Science of the University of Strathclyde, UK: as a part time Lecturer he has taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate level the following subjects: 2D design and 3D modelling software, design and development of architectural visualisation and animation, virtual environment design. He has also supervised a series of postgraduate dissertations on these subjects.
